TACHEDDIRT SKIING

Tacheddirt Skiing offers the maximum off piste skiing for those who have limited time but want a ski touring experience in Morocco.  It also takes you to perhaps the best runs in Morocco having both the best snow and the longest runs to offer.  This trip is only suitable for accomplished off piste skiers who want a challenging ski experience. The High Atlas mountains are one of the most exotic areas to go ski touring. To go on a skiing holiday to a country more famous for its deserts and beaches is an original experience that will certainly leave an impression.  The tiny village of Tacheddirt lies at 2,300 metres and provides an excellent access point to two nearby peaks Bou Iguenouane, 3882m and Tizi-n-Likemt, 3625m .  Tacheddirt is the home of a mere few hundred people and about as simple as Morocco gets.

Tacheddirt Skiing Itinerary

  • Day 1:  Afternoon transfer from Marrakech to Tacheddirt via Imlil 2 hours, or walk for 4 hours from  the ski resort oukaimden if you are  already there. Overnight in guesthouse at 2314m.
  • Day 2: After an early breakfast you will skin up the high peak Bou Iguenouane, 3882m  .  This can take up to 5 hours steady uphill effort.  You are rewarded with stunning views, especially across to Jebel Toubkal, North Africa’s highest mountain.  After a picnic lunch on the summit all the mountain is yours to descend down to the guesthouse.  There is a contrast of terrain but all places are wide and open to enjoy the spectacular scenery around you.  Overnight in the guesthouse and enjoy an invigorating hot shower to set you up for day three.
  • Day 3: Today’s route takes you up to Tizi-n-Likemt, 3625m, approximately 3 hours skinning up followed by 30 minutes on crampons.  The route takes you parallel to yesterday’s route so you will be able to look across at what you have already achieved.  A picnic lunch at the summit and you will begin your ski descent down to the road outside Tacheddirt village where local transport will be waiting to take you to Imlil to meet your transport to Marrakech.
