Description

Morocco Rock is the definitive rock climbing guidebook covering the Jebel el Kest and Taskra north part of the Anti-Atlas in Morocco, all the regions in the book being about one hour away from the busy market town of Tafraoute.

This area is an exciting new venue, still in its relative infancy, and fast becoming a really popular destination with guaranteed winter sun. The book contains over 100 crags and around 1,000 routes, all detailed with modern, colourful topos, accompanied by full text descriptions. There are detailed, full colour maps to each of the six major areas and an abundance of stunning action photographs to whet the appetite and inspire.

This destination is easily reached, only a short distance further than the south of Spain and all of the climbing is less than two hours from Agadir. The beautiful and rugged mountain terrain is surprisingly quick and easy to access, many of the cliffs within twenty minutes walk from the road, giving the climbing here a distinctly ‘cragging’ feel, akin to that to be found in North Wales or the Lake District. There is also plenty of scope for new routes, for those so inclined.

There is everything in this guide, from big mountain days on multi pitch routes, to roadside single pitch cragging, predominantly on perfect, hard baked, golden quartzite. The fantastic eastern culture and warm winter sunshine, from October right through to April, together with the diversity of extraordinary adventures to be had, make this area a very special place in which to climb.

Emma and Paul have played a pivotal role as authors to one volume, and have been co authors to three others, in the brand new five volume series of rock climbing guides to Pembroke, published by the Climbers Club.
